RESIDENTS are invited to join in a celebration to support serving troops, veterans, cadets and service families next Sunday (June 25).
The Armed Forces Day parade will begin at 11.40am from the Enfield War Memorial at the junction of Windmill and Chase Side.
The procession will take the route to the Civic Centre, in Silver Street, where at 12pm the Armed forces flag will be raised followed by a cadet presentation.
The parade will finish with a buffet at the Royal British Legion, in Nags Head Road.
“Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for us to we celebrate the work of the brave servicemen and women who work so hard to keep our country safe,” said Cllr Yasemin Brett, Enfield Council’s cabinet member for community, arts and culture.
“I’d urge residents come out and take advantage of this huge opportunity to salute the armed forces for the service and the sacrifice they make on behalf of us all and also to pay tribute to families who support them".
“Our army, navy and airforce perform a vital job worldwide, and not just in conflict.
“Peacekeeping, humanitarian relief, search and rescue are just some of the other roles they play.
“It’s important to show our respect and appreciation, so I’m looking forward to as many people as possible joining me on Sunday to thank them for their efforts.”
