ELLENBOROUGH Table Tennis Club celebrated another successful year by holding their annual Junior Open Day in the presence of the Mayor of Enfield.

The highlight of the past 12 months for the club, which is based in Craddock Road, Enfield, saw their girls’ team – led by the United Kingdom’s top ranked under-14 player Denise Payet – won the Junior British League Premier Division title for a second successive year.

The club also entered a second team led by Sophie Chiang, who at the age of just 11 is ranked number four in the UK in the under-13 category, while Ellenborough’s boys’ team won the second division of the National Junior League competition.

Trophies were presented on the day by Mayor Christine Hamilton to the club’s Jack Petchey Achievement winners, while Kevin Fang won the Mizzy Award – given to the junior with the highest average in the Middlesex League – and the Eddie Jones Award was given to Kamari Bailey for being the most improved player and to Seth Mayuga for being the most promising player.

Ellenborough Table Tennis Club holds junior coaching sessions every Saturday and Sunday from 10.30am-12pm at a cost of £3 per session.
